UVA School Song: The Good Old Song: The lyrics were written in 1895 and a great school gameday tradition is for the students, faculty and alumni to link arms and sway while singing the "Good Old Song" at the football games. Each Cavaliers score and the end of the game prompt this tradition.

University School Colors: Orange and Blue The original UVA colors were cardinal and gray, but gave way to the Orange and Blue in 1888 because the original colors did not stand out on muddy football fields.
|
UVA Nicknames Cavaliers, Wahoos and Hoos Cavaliers is the name most embraced by the media, but Wahoos and Hoos are also fan favorites.

University of Virginia Mascot The Cavalier Mascot This entry into University traditions first rode onto the scene in 1947 when two students on horseback appeared on the football field dressed as Cavaliers in a game against Harvard. Today a Cavalier on horseback leads the team onto the field at home football games.
