Mallett's Collegiate Career
|
The Batesville, Arkansas native began his collegiate career at Michigan in 2007 after the 2006 Texas High School Player of the Year signed with the Wolverines. Mallett played one season for Michigan, but left after Rich Rodriguez took over the coach helms prior to the 2008 season. The spread option offense being installed by "Rich Rod" did not suit Mallett's dropback style, so the 6-7 QB headed back to Arkansas
2007: Filling in for the injured Chad Henne, Mallett completed 61 of 141 passes (43.3%) for 892 yards, 7 TD's and 5 Int's as a freshman for the Wolverines
2009: After sitting out the mandated season due to his transfer from Michigan, Mallett was able to take the field for the Razorbacks in 2009. On the season, he completed 225 of 403 passes (55.8%) for 3627 yards, 30 TD's and 7 Int's. Under his direction, the Razorbacks posted an 8-5 record including a Liberty Bowl win over East Carolina
2010: As a junior, Mallett guided the Razorbacks to a tremendous season that culminated with a Sugar Bowl berth against Ohio State. Although falling short in the bowl game, Arkansas finished the season with a 10-3 record. The Hogs QB completed 266 of 411 passes (64.7%) for 3869 yards, 32 TD's and 12 Int's.
