College football's best receiver in 2007 was actually a QB for David W. Carter High School in Dallas, TX. During his senior season as a QB, Crabtree passed for 870 yards and eleven touchdowns on 45 completions out of 100 attempts. He also ran for 646 yards and nine touchdowns
Crabtree was a 4-star recruit as an athlete and was also a top-50 basketball recruit. Although Crabtree flirted with playing college basketball as well, he decided to devote his time solely to football.
The Red Raiders won the services of Michael Crabtree over Baylor, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Kansas.
