Memphis plays for a National Championship for the first time

During the 1972-73 season with Gene Bartow at the coaching
helm,  All-American Larry Finch led the Tigers to the NCAA
tournament championship game, which the Tigers lost to the
UCLA Bruins.
Memphis advances to the National
Championship Game!
Memphis beats UCLA 78-63 in the Final Four and will play in the
NCAA Championship Game Monday night.
This is the Memphis Tigers' first NCAA Final Game appearance
since they played UCLA in 1973.
