MSU Baseball Facts When it comes to tradition, the Bulldogs are second to none

- The University's Dudy-Noble Field - Polk DeMent Stadium is home to
NCAA baseball's biggest on-campus crowds. Mississippi State has all of the top 13 and 21 of the top 25 on-campus crowds in the history of college baseball. The #1 attended game of all-time was April 22,1989 when 14,991 fans attended the MSU-Florida game.
- "The #1 place to watch college baseball" is found at the stadium's Left
Field Lounge. Each game the area behind left field hosts droves of Bulldogs fans who enjoy tailgating and baseball.
- Throught the 2009 season, MSU has won 10 SEC Baseball
championships and 6 conference tournament championships.
- The school's first baseball season was in 1948 when R.P. "Doc" Patty's
squad posted a 12-5 record.
- MSU made their first College World Series appearance in 1971 under
the direction of manager Paul Gregory.
- The next College World Series appearance for Mississippi State was in
1979, When Ron Polk's squad made it to Omaha. Polk coach MSU from 1976-1997 and then served a second stint from 2002-2008. Polk took State to six CWS appearances.
- The Diamond Dogs have produced a Who's Who list of prominent
baseball alumni. The roster includes the likes of Boo Ferris, Wil Clark, Jeff Brantley, Rafael Palmerio, Bobby Thigpen, Buck Showalter and Jonathan Papelbon
