LSU BCS National Championship Keys If the Tigers are going to hoist the BCS National Championship Trophy and wear the National Championship T-shirts and Caps, they need to focus on the following.
|
Defense: LSU must get healthy on defense and regain the form that the Tigers had in early-season dominating wins over Mississippi State and Virginia Tech. If LSU is to win it's 2nd national championship of the decade, the defense must stop the following Buckeye stars.
- RB Chris "Beanie" Wells rushed for 1,463 yards and 14 TD's
- QB Todd Boeckman was efficient with 23 TD's vs. 12 INT's.
- WR Brian Robiskie (son of former LSU star Terry Robiskie) is
a receiving force with 885 yards and 10 TD's.
Note: LSU forces 4 turnovers and posts 5 sacks to lift the Tigers to the 2007 national championship.
|
Offense: Effective play from the Tigers' Quarterbacks will be key for LSU fans being able to show off their national championship merchandise at game's end. Matt Flynn and Ryan Perrilloux have combined to throw for nearly 3,000 yards and have compiled a 25 to 12 TD/INT Ratio. LSU will need to push forward with their running game in the national championship to be played in the Louisiana Superdome. Jacob Hester has been the Tigers' major rushing force with 1,017 yards and 11 TD's. LSU WR Early Doucet is a key playmaker and LSU national championship hopes will depend on his big-play capability. Doucet was injured for much of the year, but came up big in late-season performances. Note: QB Matt Flynn throws 4 TD Passes for the first time in his LSU career.
