as "Coach K."
This four-time national champion has had a
profound impact on college basketball and his
players that have excelled wearing Duke Blue Devil
basketball jerseys.
Mike Krzyzewski became the head coach of the
Duke Men’s Basketball team in 1980. After some
growing pains in the early years, the Duke
program has become one of the most successful
of all time. Coach K is a numerous winner of the
National Coach of the Year and has built a dynasty
that few programs in the history of the game can
match.  Furthering Coach K's coach legacy and
impact on Duke basketball was his
2001enshrinement in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

  • Danny Ferry:  While wearing Duke Basketball jersey #35, Ferry was the 1988-
    89 player of the year as Duke made it to the Final Four.
  • Christian Laettner was a force for Duke while wearing basketball jersey #32
    as Duke won consecutive national championships in 1991 and 1992.
  • Grant Hill donned Duke Basketball jersey #33 for the Blue Devils and was an
    instrumental part of Duke's national championships in the early 1990's.
  • Bobby Hurley was the point guard and floor general for Coach K's squads that
    helped Duke achieve basketball dynasty status.  Hurley wore Duke Basketball
    jersey #11.
  • A dynamic duo in Duke basketball jerseys helped the Blue Devils win
    Coach K's third national title in 2001.  Shane Battier and Jason Williams
    earned National Player of the Year awards in 2001 (Shane Battier was the
    consensus selection while Jason Williams earned the NABC award).  
    This achievement marked the first time in college basketball history that
    two players from the same team received National Player of the Year
    honors by the major outlets.  Shane Battier wore Duke Blue Devil jersey
    #31 and Williams wore Duke jersey #22
