  • The club was founded in 1894 as part of the
    Western League and became one of the American
    League's 8 charter franchises.
  • Detroit has won (4) World Series titles.  The first
    one was won in 1935 and was followed with MLB
    championships in 1945, 1968 and 1984.
  • The Tigers have won 10 American League
    Pennants.
  • Comerica Park has served as Detroit's baseball
    home since 2000.  Previously Tiger Stadium served
    from 1912 to 1999.  
  • The most wins in franchise history took place in
    1984 when the Tigers posted a 104-58 record
    before eventually defeating the San Diego Padres
    in the 1984 World Series.
  • The team's uniform colors are Navy blue, white ,
    orange and grey.
  • Retired numbers for the club include 23 Willie
    Horton, 5 Hank Greenburg, 2, Charlie Gehringer,
    16, Hal Newhouser, and 6 Al Kaline.  Ty Cobb is
    also honored in that group, but no official number is
    retired in his honor.
