Chris Long's impact on Virginia football was well
documented by the end of his Cavalier career.  Prior to
his final home game, Long's No. 91 jersey number
was retired.
Long led Virginia to a 9-3 regular season in 2007 while
earning All-American honors.  The defensive linemen
also was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
Chris Long totaled 14 sacks and he also ranked 10th
in the nation in tackles for the 2007 season.
Chris long was a three-year starter for Virginia and was
the team captain his last two seasons.
Chris Long High School Highlights
Chris Long prepped at Charlottesville, VA's St. Anne’s-
Belfield School.  Long starred on both the offensive and
defensive line while helping his team win a state
championship.

Long's stellar play helped him garner a great amount
of recruiting interest.  Long was named a SuperPrep
All-American and a PrepStar All-American.  No. 74 on
Tom Lemming’s list of the top recruits in the nation had
Long listed No. 74 overall and the No. 8 defensive end.

Chris Long commented on whether it's more of a blessing
or a curse to be the son of an NFL Hall of Famer.

"It is more of a blessing because I not only have the most
supportive Dad a kid could ask for but I have a father with a
wealth of knowledge at something I happen to want to do
with my life. Even in the respect that it has been a curse, it
has also been a blessing motivationally. It has allowed me
to mature as a person and motivated me more to try to move
out of his shadow if at all possible. It has also set my
standard for success high because he has done everything
a football player could dream of. He has taught me never to
be satisfied or complacent."
After being selected with the 2nd
overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft,
